Meditation
Meditation – What is it?
Meditation is the process of redirecting your thoughts to bring calm to your mind. It is a mind and body practice that has a long history of use for increasing calmness and physical relaxation, improving psychological balance (such as reducing anxiety and depression and helping to control racing thoughts), coping with pain and/or illness, and enhancing overall health and well-being.
Meditation is a mental exercise that trains attention and awareness. Its purpose is often to curb reactivity to one’s negative thoughts and feelings.
If you don’t think you can meditate, think again! We offer easy, gentle meditation instruction to help you learn how. Even as little as 5 -10 minutes a day can make a big difference in your ability to feel calm and centered.
What seems to be the problem?
In today’s world, we are continually “ON”. Ever-changing priorities and demands have us continually moving from one thought to another, one task to another. Many times, there is not enough time in the day to complete all of the things that require our attention. This can leave us exhausted, overwhelmed, forgetful and stressed out. Long-term exposure to this frantic pace has been shown to create a wide variety of health issues. Even when we sleep at night, our mind does not stop. We can find ourselves experiencing insomnia or lack of quality sleep – both which add to the problem. Even if you are able to get some good quality sleep, it still does not allow your mind to rest. Meditation allows your mind to rest and get some much-needed relief.
